The electric blanket project we mentioned in our previous RCS News has now been delivered to the controls/testing company before being installed at the end-user’s Birmingham factory. We call it a conveyor, but is it! You will see from the picture that beneath the top cover there is a shaft fitted with several pulleys, each fitted with 20 mm diameter polyurethane belts. The belts help pull the blankets through the machine where they are electrically tested as part of QA procedures. Perhaps it is simply a handling device? The shaft is driven by a direct connected right angle geared motor to drive the pulley belts at the 15m/minute in a forward or reverse direction.
