|Despite the considerable financial problems worldwide and the significant downturn we have seen, the signs are beginning to become more positive.
Interestingly we have been very fortunate to be able to sustain our business activity during this year. In fact, our last 12 months business has exceeded the same period in 2008 by a good margin.
As part of this business activity we have seen some interesting trends:
Increased Conveyor Maintenance & Service Business
Companies are spending more in this area to keep existing conveying equipment operating rather than buy new. We have seen a major increase in this part of the retail sector within our customer base.
Certain retail customers are increasing activity with new stores where they use mezzanine floor belt conveyors (see picture) to move products to/from a mezzanine floor for additional storage space. We are currently working on a new project where our customer has a 6 metre high floor. Mezzanine floors are normally around 3-4 m high.
We have a full-size, heavy duty (750 kg UDL) mezzanine floor belt conveyor in our factory for demonstration purposes. This unit is available for inspection in our factory if you wish to discuss your specific requirements.
SIGNED, SEALED & DELIVERED
We continue to provide services for certain overseas projects and one of our installation/commissioning teams has just returned from Bulgaria where we have recently supplied a powered roller and belt conveyor system. This system was installed to convey products from high speed sorting equipment to automatic wrapping machines. The system has been successfully commissioned.
Since our last New Update where we showed our QD belt conveyors for fruit packing, we have received a further order for 2 more similar conveyors, which will be installed at the end of November 2009.
Contact us if you need help with your existing equipment or on new projects.
